What is a Skin Tag?

Skin tags are small, soft, benign growths of skin, usually on a stalk or connected by a very thin section of skin. They’re common and harmless but can be annoying. They can occur virtually anywhere on the body but are most common on the armpits, neck, eyelids, groin folds, and under breasts. Almost everyone will develop skin tags in their life, from one skin tag to potentially hundreds.

What is Milia?

A milium is a small, white bump usually appearing on the nose and cheeks. Milium cysts are commonly found in groups, and in these cases are called milia. The cysts occur when keratin becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. Keratin is a strong protein that is typically found in skin tissues, hair, and nail cells.

What is Cherry Angioma?

A cherry angioma, or “red mole,” is usually bright red, circular or oblong in shape, and typically small. Cherry angiomas can appear smooth and even with your skin, while others might appear slightly raised. They often grow on the torso, arms, legs, and shoulders. Bleeding can occur if the angioma is scratched, rubbed, or cut open. They are usually benign but, like with other “moles,” if they change color or consistency it is important to visit your doctor. The following video demonstrates Skin Classic treatment of cherry angioma as well as broken capillaries

What is an Acne Cyst?

Pimples occur a pore becomes too clogged with dead skin cells, along with dirt and oil. When bacteria becomes trapped inside a poor it can cause the area to swell and become red. Cystic acne occurs when this infection penetrates deep into your dermis, creating an inflamed, sensitive bump, full of “pus.” Acne cysts may be painful or itchy.

What is Sebaceous Hyperplasia?

Sebaceous Hyperplasia is a harmless, benign bump on the dermis, that forms from ongoing skin damage and over-productive oil glands. Once an oil gland is damaged, it can become enlarged and clogged. They can be either soft or firm, usually with a white or yellowish rim and a depressed center. The depressed center is the surest sign that you’re dealing with Sebaceous Hyperplasia and not a “white head.” They are more common in people over the age of 40 and require specialized treatment.
